Instrument Initial Programme
The Interartes Instrument Initial Programme is the first step in a child's musical journey.
Designed for students aged 6 to 8, it offers a structured, playful, and inspiring introduction to an instrument, encouraging the joy of playing and the discovery of each child's individual musicality.
With no prior experience required, this programme builds the technical, listening, and expressive foundations that support the student's entire future musical path.
🌱 Main objectives
Develop motor, listening, and rhythmic coordination through instrumental practice.
Encourage musical expression and creativity, integrating improvisation and sound-based games.
Introduce the first notions of music reading and notation in an intuitive way.
Promote enjoyment of learning, strengthening confidence and artistic autonomy.
Create a solid foundation for progression into the Interartes Instrument Course.

🌟 Proven benefits of early instrumental learning
🧠 Cognitive improvement and memory — children who study music from an early age develop greater concentration and logical reasoning ability (Harvard University, 2014).
🤲 Coordination and fine motor skills — playing an instrument improves manual dexterity and strengthens the brain–body connection (Journal of Neuroscience, 2018).
💬 Emotional expression and socialisation — music practice strengthens empathy, communication, and confidence.
🎨 Creativity and imagination — improvising and composing stimulate divergent thinking and curiosity.
🎯 Discipline and focus — learning to play teaches persistence and attention to detail.
👩🏫 Methodology
Teaching is personalised and student-centred.
Each child is supported by the teacher and the pedagogical coordination team, ensuring a path adapted to their individual learning pace.
Lessons combine practical moments, simple explanations, and creative exploration, so that learning music feels natural, fun, and meaningful.
🎤 Performances and assessment
Throughout the year, students take part in small public performances, sharing their progress with classmates and family members.
Assessment is continuous and formative, valuing commitment, technical development, and expressiveness.
At Interartes, the Instrument Initial Programme is the beginning of a musical journey full of discovery, confidence, and joy.
Every sound is a step—and every step is an achievement.
